The beauteous and vivacious Khair-un-nissa Begum (1776-1813 A.D.) was one of them. At the young age of twenty, she fell in love with James Achilles Kirkpatrick, a British officer stationed at Hyderabad. About to be given off in marriage to a muslim noble she eloped. Kirkpatrick was adopted by the Nizam and named Hushmat Jung Nawab Fakr-ud-Doula to facilitate the marriage between the two.
